Happily Never After 4

The fourth installation of an ongoing series: The Best Comic Couples that Never Were.

This time, we have Jean-Paul Beaubier (<3) of Alpha Flight fame and Bobby Drake, one of the original members of X-Men. Years after AF ended, JP was written in as part of the staff at Xavier's, where he quickly developed an intense crush on the Iceman. If was, of course, completely unrequited, since the writing staff was too busy having him jump back and forth between Lorna and Annie, which was ridiculous in the first place. Lorna belongs with Alex. No one else. Ever. I mean, my GOD! How many times in X-Factor did she and Alex survive some impossible situation by sheer force of their love for one another (Malice, anyone?), and they're just going to have Alex run off and leave her on the altar? I don't think so!

*cough* Sorry. That's a rant for another doll. Anyway, it's another no-brainer. Put the arrogant French-Canadian who hasn't had a canon love-interest in, oh, EVER with the witty, light-hearted prankster, who is probably the only person who could get the better of Jean-Paul without suffering bodily injury. Result? Bobby grows up a little, JP grows down a little, and everybody's happy.

But no, can't do that, because that would make sense.

On a side note, as far as never-beens go, this is the best couple ever. That is all.

edit: In case you're wondering, the uniform Bobby is wearing is from his stint in X-Factor. Why? Because ~Llama-Illustrious liked it best, and trench coats on seated bases are a nightmare.
